Academies
by Pearl-O [gen]
River-centric,
this covers five 'academies' in which River learns things-- some of
them are from the series, some of them are possibilities (AR) that
never happened. All of them are fascinating. My favourite is probably
River at the Companion-school, just because it's so...River.
Something
by Memlu [Zoe, Wash, kind of gen]
Cute, cute, pre-Zoe/Wash when he still had the moustache. XD A ficbit
you will enjoy.
Tetchy by Debchan
[Jayne/Simon]
I
know, I know. You're thinking, "WTF, mates?", but I saw this on Becky's
page and had the same reaction, but hell, she has good taste, so I read
it and... WOW. Actually a pairing I could get behind. O_O Isn't that
weird? I don't even like Simon. But I like this.
Kaylee: Natural Talents by Doyle [Gen]
A
beautiful, simple Kaylee-centric piece on how she understands Serenity.
It's got some very convincing brief childhood-bits and then some
awesome, very mellow in-series bits.
In Stitches by KMS [Gen, Simon-centric]
Simon
always gets laundry duty. [No labour on labour day.] A really great way
to tie in the chore division on Serenity with the characters'
individual traits and Simon's background and medical training
especially. Everyone is kind of sweet and funny and River is a solid
thread pulling through it. Lovely, funny, warm.
Five Times Jayne Resisted the Unsettling Urge to Hug Someone by ana_grrl [Misc]
Oh, oh! Jayne is so
Jayne and so
cracktastic. God, I love Jayne.
An Arrangement of Parts by Ana-grrl [Jayne/Simon]
Spoilers for
Serenity
(the movie). Ahh, I love the way she writes! This piece is all about
what a good team Jayne and Simon make for pulling off plans, and
gradually, it becomes sort of about the sex (with sex pollen!), but
really, it's still just about their teamwork. And the beautiful thing
is that the writing
reflects that. It's smooth and rough in all the right ways and mixes together, so that every piece of this is exactly as it should be.
