Dork by Francesca and Miriam [Jim/Blair]
So
uh, I've bored you to tears before going on about how pretty much
everyone in this house is incredibly attracted to nerds, right? In a
big way? Yeah. And while I've been reading Sentinel fic cautiously (I'm
not even done season 2, and I only have up to the first 3 of season 3)
this is the first one I've actually felt the need to rec. It's really
smooth, with a solid progression. It avoids problems that I've seen
crop up in multiple fandoms as general fannish issues, side-stepping
them neatly, and the characterization seems pretty good to me. I could
really picture the events and characters clearly. Smooth.
Middle Ground by Maggie B [Jim/Blair]
This
is a FT piece that deals with some neat social issues and only grazes
things that I get bored with in fandom-- it does a really solid job on
Jim for the most part. It's not perfect, but it's close enough that you
can ignore a few tiny things that don't fit. And the pay off is worth
it.
Refugee Status by Lamardeuse [Jim/Blair]
I'd
forgotten how good and angsty and involved Sentinel fic could be! I
mean, not super angsty, but it's kind of complicated and pulls at all
these tiny details of character and possible outcomes. This was really
just what I needed.
Wine, Women and Schlong by Brighid [Jim/Blair]
Apparently the sisterhood
had gotten the word out. In a weird sort of way, it was a little
comforting. At least women were still interested. They just assumed he
wasn't.
