A fusion with His Dark Materials. Vulcan Daemons don’t settle until they’ve bonded, and the crew of the Enterprise has placed bets on what Spock’s Daemon will be. A very sweet, delicately written piece that fleshes out this similar universe well.

The idea is Kirk is facing a no-win scenario finally, and if he’s going to go out fighting he’s also going to finally kiss Spock, and mean it.
